Born in Sasbachwalden (Baden-Württemberg) in 1962 and brought up at my parents’ farm, I became acquainted with the various actual and legal problems occurring in agriculture at a very early age.

After my law studies and practical legal training in Freiburg i.Br. I headed for Thuringia in 1993, where I first worked as an assistant at the Friedrich Schiller University in Jena for a period of three years. During this period of time I did my doctorate in environmental criminal law.  From 1997 until 2000 I was employed by the Thuringian Farmers’ Association as their legal advisor and as Executive Secretary of the Agricultural Employers’ Association of Thuringia. During this period of time I also worked as an honorary judge at the Thuringian Higher Labour Court.

In 1998 I was admitted to practise as a lawyer. The central focus of my work is in agricultural law and employment law.
